The evolution of senior projects as graduation requirements emphasizes project-based learning. Planning templates lead from research papers to projects, products, and presentations. Integrating academics and career-technical skills, senior projects also result in work-based learning experiences. When students, mentors, and teachers understand that a project is more than a poster, both quality and accountability increase. Contributions of Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) to Improved Student Achievement
Research on the use of contextualized teaching strategies and their effects on improved student achievement will be reviewed. The results of a five-year study on the preparation of preservice teachers to use CTL strategies and their subsequent effect with students in public schools will be presented.
