Academy of Information Technology
The National Academy Foundation (NAF) in partnership with CORD created the Academy of Information Technology (AOIT) in 1999. The purpose of AOIT is to provide a well-rounded high school education that prepares students for possible careers and/or postsecondary education in the field of information technology (IT). NAF recruits and selects the academies and then supplies the them with networking opportunities through the NAF summer institute and support as they develop their local advisory boards and create paid internships and job shadowing opportunities for their students.  CORD develops the curriculum and provides professional development for the academy.  AOIT started with 12 pilot schools in 1999 and today there are more than 150 AOIT academies nationwide.
