Workshops

CORD offers a broad range of professional development workshops for educators and other career pathways stakeholders. Workshops can be delivered at your location in single-day, multiple-day, or hybrid formats combining face-to-face and online instruction. Below is a sampling of our most-requested workshops. All can be customized for your state or local needs. If you don’t see exactly what you’re looking for, just ask. Workshops for Career Pathways Administrators and Faculty

CORD is the parent organization of the National Career Pathways Network (NCPN), a membership organization for educators and employers involved in the advancement of Career Pathways, CTE, and related education reform initiatives.


CAREER PATHWAYS LEADERSHIP CERTIFICATION - 2 days
Empowers local and state personnel to implement career pathways. Tips, tools, strategies, and resources are provided. Topics include: Academic Achievement, Begin with the End in Mind, Career Planning, Funding, Partnerships, Professional Development. Program Design and Delivery, and Sector Identification and Employer Engagement. The workshop can be customized to serve the needs of individual states and regions. Certfication provided by the National Career Pathways Network.

INTRODUCTION TO ADULT CAREER PATHWAYS (ACP) - 1 day
Helps community college administrators, faculty, and staff find solutions to problems that prevent many adults from obtaining the education that today’s workplace demands. Includes background information and statistics, discussion sessions, and group work in which participants begin to develop their own ACP plans.

The Career Pathways Effect Workshops

CORD and Advance CTE collaborated on the development of The Career Pathways Effect: Linking Education and Economic Prosperity. The two organizations developed workshops based on the major themes of the book to support practitioners in the implementation and improvement of career pathways. The workshops are delivered in four series: LEAD/SUCCEED, PARTNER, DELIVER, and ENSURE. Descriptions of available workshops follow. Each can be customized to meet local needs.

CAREER PATHWAYS OVERVIEW
An introductory workshop designed to be the catalyst for the development and implementation of a career pathways system. The workshop is based on the Department of Education Office of Career, Technical, and Adult Education's Programs of Study (POS) Design Framework.

ADMINISTRATOR ROLE IN A CAREER PATHWAYS SYSTEM
Learn about the tenacious leadership required to successfully implement a career pathways system.

PARTNERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
Learn about the roles, responsibilities, and opportunities for partners within an effective career pathways system.

TEACHING FOR SUCCESS
This workshop is designed to support teachers in their roles as learning facilitators within a career pathways system. Topics are centered on evidence-based practices that promote student engagement and the application and transfer of knowledge.

COUNSELING FOR SUCCESS
A career pathways system requires a progressive counseling infrastructure beginning in early childhood and continuing through adulthood.

BUILDING PROGRAMS OF STUDY
This workshop addresses the programs of study design process, delivery models, and development of an implementation plan.

DATA-DRIVEN DECISION-MAKING
This workshop focuses on using data for decision-making, accountability, and evaluation.
