Curriculum Integrator

In an effort to meet the needs of emerging high-skill work organizations, CORD, in partnership with a consortium of states, has developed an integrated approach to curriculum development. The Curriculum Integrator™ system is a structure by which state and local educational entities can effectively integrate academic, occupational, and employability standards with active learning strategies. The system offers a career-preparation pathway that:

  • Is founded on a comprehensive career-awareness/career-education program that enables learners to make informed career choices based upon interests, aptitudes, and opportunities;
  • Is labor-market and skill-standards driven, ensuring student readiness for meaningful employment in a chosen occupation;
  • Is organized into career clusters based upon common core competencies that apply across a range of occupations and facilitate the transfer of skills from one occupation to another;
  • Integrates academic, occupational, and employability skills taught in the context of work; and
  • Includes comprehensive learner assessments that link to pre-established skill standards.
