NTPN Legislative Updates

December 6:  Finalizing Perkins Legislation –  Action Needed Now
Congress may finalize the Perkins reauthorization legislation in January, and now is the time to act.  Read the latest alert and download a sample letter to send to members of the House Committee on Education and the Workforce along with the supporting document  "The Case for Career Pathways."

June 24: Save Tech Prep – Contact your congressmen now!
Read the differences between the House's and Senate's versions of the reauthorization of the Carl D. Perkins Vocational and Technical Act.  Find out which congressmen and representatives reside on the educational committees, and download position papers.

May 19:  Urge your legislators to sign a circulating letter of support to keep Perkins funding at the current level
Read the Association for Career and Technical Education’s (ACTE) call-to-action to see if your legislators have already signed on.  Need to know who represents you in congress?  You’ll also find a link to the ACTE legislative action center where you can quickly access this information.

May 4:  House approves HR 366, the “Vocational and Technical Education for the Future Act”
Your action is still needed to keep Tech Prep as a separate funding stream, and to restore allowable administrative expenses to the original five percent.  Read more about this important legislation by clicking the link to NTPN Director, David Bond’s, message urging your continued support.
