Learn how to bring your entire incoming freshmen class to your high school campus during the school day to tour all CTE programs. A parent night is included. Want to get your business community involved in your schools? Then build an effective business-education partnership. Learn the nuts and bolts and other tools necessary to lay a strong foundation with your business representatives and school personnel. Put on your hard hat, roll up your shirt sleeves, and get down to work in learning from the Alamance County School-to-Careers Partnership. This partnership received the 2001 NC Governor’s Business Partnership award and the 2002 Lever award, both recognizing successful business-education partnerships. Real-World Exposure: Student Career Opportunity Days
The age-old question “Why do I have to learn this?” is addressed at annual Student Career Opportunity Days sponsored by the Oakland County Tech Prep Consortium. Hands-on experiences are the focus of these events, which hundreds of students attend annually. Participants in this session will experience an overview in Health & Business, Early Childhood Development, Computer Information Systems, and Technology and CAD/Drafting. Marketing and registration materials and sample agendas will be shared so that similar activities can be easily replicated.
