Molecular Literacy

CORD is partnering with The Concord Consortium on a National Science Foundation Project to develop interactive molecular models.  This three-year project is working to enhance science and technology teaching in grades 10-14 by providing Molecular Literacy content in support of careers in biotechnology and nanotechnology. The project is developing new materials that use highly interactive molecular dynamics and quantum mechanics models, and embed these models in learning activities that are appropriate for both core science courses and specialized courses teaching biotechnology and nanotechnology workplace competencies.

CORD has developed an online tutorial to help teachers and instructors learn how to use the models in their classrooms.  The tutorial can be found at http://blackboard.concord.org using “molit” as both the user name and password to login.  The models are available at no charge at the following URL:  http://molit.concord.org
