Developing a Successful Manufacturing Technology Program
This workshop will cover the process of developing the academic curriculum and associated facilities and agreements for Bristol Community College’s Manufacturing Technology (CIM) program. Topics covered will include: a brief history of CIM, utilizing existing courses and support services, incorporating industrial and transfer school input, integrating with laboratory experiences, developing articulation and transfer agreements, evaluating results, and revising program content. Building Geometry: Contextual, Integrated, Standards-Based, and Cool?
Designing and building a construction project encompasses math topics from Fibonacci to Pythagoras, algebra to geometry, trigonometry to data analysis, and more. This NSF-funded curriculum project has produced a two-semester package (lesson plans, assessments, resources) formatted for use by both math and CTE teachers. Come check it out! Creating Successful Career Pathways Through Comprehensive Guidance and Career Planning
Pat Schwallie-Giddis and Linda Kobylarz, nationally recognized career development experts, will share valuable tips on developing comprehensive career guidance plans that can help every young person succeed. Each attendee will receive a copy of the National Career Development Guidelines and will learn about a website that provides materials and information that every career counseling professional should have.
There will be a hands-on session during which you can begin the development of your own school or district plan, with plenty of expert assistance. You will also get the latest information on Career Pathways and how to help students transition smoothly from secondary to postsecondary education.
