The 2007 National Tech Prep Network and Career Pathways annual conference is shaping up to the best yet! We are excited about the six program strands and the keynote speakers that are already lined up.

The opening session on Thursday will feature Willard Daggett, President, International Center for Leadership in Education. Dr. Daggett has been a favorite with audiences for years and is recognized for his ability to move education systems towards more rigorous and relevant skills and knowledge for all students. His topic will be "The Education Challenge - Preparing Students for a Changing World," which will discuss mega trends such as new and emerging technology, globalization, changing demographics and new generations of young people in our classrooms. The presentation will focus on the skills and knowledge students will need in order to succeed in the changing world.

The membership luncheon on Friday will feature teacher, author and President of Freedom Writers Foundation, Erin Gruwell. Many of you may have seen the movie Freedom Writers which talks about the challenges and successes of Gruwell as she worked with inner city students in Long Beach, California, challenging them to turn from guns to pens. Straight from the heart of urban America, hear the story of one determined teacher and her amazing students! You must be a member of NTPN to attend this luncheon and special presentation. Erin will autograph copies of her book (open to everyone) following the luncheon.

The closing general session speaker on Saturday will be JD Hoye, new President of the National Academy Foundation. Some of you will remember JD as the Director of the National School-to-Work Office during the Clinton administration.
