Tech Prep Competency Testing Online—Seamless Transition to Postsecondary Education
This presentation covers the development of a website that gives teachers, students, and parents an overview of the Tech Prep articulation process. The site also provides an opportunity for high school students to take practice exams and the competency exam used to award credit in 21 technical courses offered at the 14 high schools in our Tech Prep service area of west Tennessee. The postsecondary credits are provided by Dyersburg State Community College and/or the Tennessee Technology Centers at Covington, Ripley, and Newbern. Using Technology to Take Culinary Arts Statewide
Participants will learn how Nebraska’s community colleges enhanced the culinary arts curriculum statewide via hands-on workshops and on-line learning opportunities. The program enabled high school teachers to audit two introductory courses online through two community colleges and participate in hands-on workshops. The project culminated at a statewide career and education conference at which teachers were updated on nutrition trends and were able to test for the ServSafe certification.
