Site-Based Workshops
The following Site-Based Workshops are delivered on-site at your locations and tailored to the needs of local teachers:

Teaching Contextually to Reach All Students
To answer the question “Why do I have to learn this?” teachers need to be able to show the relevance of content to student experience or interest. Most students learn best when such connections are made. This workshop is designed to help teachers from all disciplines develop strategies to promote learning for understanding rather than simple acquisition of knowledge. Workshop content is tailored to address the state standards that must be taught by participants. [1-3 days]

Empowering Teachers to Develop Contextual Projects
This workshop helps teachers recognize the importance of using projects as a vehicle for helping students learn for understanding. Presentations and products are the outcomes expected of students when using this method of teaching. The workshop helps teachers learn to effectively use projects and performance-based assessments as teaching tools. [1-3 days]

Standards-Based Instruction–A Hands-on Workshop for Secondary Teachers
Imagine a school at which teachers know exactly the essential skills and knowledge their students should be learning and how their colleagues are teaching to the same standards. In such an environment, teachers can successfully collaborate with one another on lessons and units. This workshop looks at the teaching process as it relates to standards-based education. Participants are engaged in the development of standards-based lessons, assessments, and active learning strategies. Come be renewed by instructional ideas that are engaging for students and have been proven to yield better results on state assessments as well as on norm-referenced, alternative, and criterion-referenced assessments. [2-3 days]
