Infusing Mathematics into Business Education Classrooms
This CORD Communications project, funded by a Department of Education Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) grant, is developing and field testing thirty-six lessons to help secondary business education students strengthen their mathematics abilities. The project will include two innovative technologies: 1) PowerPointTMslides that will deliver a believable business education scenario, and include the mathematics instruction needed to solve it, and 2) the Classroom Performance System (CPS)—a student assessment tool produced by the company, eInstruction. During a CPS lesson, students respond to on-screen questions using infrared response pads. The teacher’s computer can instantly summarize, grade, and display the results of student responses. The resulting infusible lessons will be available from CORD Communications under the product name MATHSavvy.
